The First Day - Tree Planting Ceremony 2013, 9th May 2013, Thursday
Tree Planting Ceremony is a yearly event held in Curtin University, Sarawak Campus.

Like last Year Strong Bow is one of the main sponsor of the Borneo Jazz . You can easily get access to the cyder, beer and other alcoholic drinks. Apart from that, there are also varieties of food & beverages offered. Muslims visitor would not have a limited food selection.

Well, here the best part of my story. during the first day of the concert, there is this one cute guy, approach us. He introduced himself as the cute traveler. He is a blogger from Kuala Lumpur whom sent by Air Asia Travel to cover this year Borneo Jazz festivals. Cool right?. He has been traveling alone all these while. Check out his blog at
www.thebigsmallboy.com . He has a very interesting story about his journey and traveling. Not only that, we meet up again with
Ryuta Suzuki, the Japanese music journalist from Japan. he was here too last year with
Takao Fujika (Jazz magazine editor). unfortunately Takao could not make it this year as he have another work commitment.We hope to meet you again next year Takao!
Oh. I also have the opportunities to meet up with behind the scene people of
Rotikaya.com Mr Danish Haiqal and Trekselebriti dude Mr Adam. Well, among the good comments that i received from these people are, in West Malaysia, the crowds are not that insane for international music festival like this. meaning to say, there are more crowds here for Borneo Jazz Festival. Well... oooookkk.. Wait till they join the Rainforest World Music Festival in June. And I simply reply them, "we appreciate music in every way, despite the genre" .
Another 2 dudes from Truly Asia will not be forgotten too. even tho i literally forgot to ask these guys name. (oh well i actually know one guy only
khairul shafit la) But we actually dance in front of the stage together with Rayyan & Cik Arifah (i will introduce her later in this post). see, strangers also can be cool sometimes. Enjoy and listen to the awesome jazz music while dancing is not a crime. =) Ok. i was literally dancing and shouting ok. well, being me, i know no shame. lol.

Ok this year i would like to tell you less bout the performers. i believe you readers can read from my friends blog for more info on what have been offered last few days of Borneo Jazz. On my part i would like to elaborate more on the audiences. Its a mix and match of Local and international people. some come all the way from Brunei, Kuching, West Malaysia. There are more Expatriate this year compared to last year. There are Professional staffs, Students, Teachers, Lecturers, Blue Colar, White Colar or whatever colar you have out there. lol.. i can see a lots of familiar faces. ok well. knowing me. I actually met those people in my other events around miri.

Malik and me of course. A very big THANK YOU to Cyril for the invitation. This is actually my second year of covering the events, and the fun was not just stop last year. this is year is more fun. the friendship that built within was the most part that i appreciated.

This year crowd was simply amazing. when it was started to rain, most of them went to up to the pavilion, while 50% of them stayed and literally started to dance under the rain. Jump 4 Joy actually started to perform with a very light arrangements. But when it started to rain, they also became more aggressive and funky. Once again we were not dissapointed.

I actually notice that most of my para started with 'this year; lol.. oh heck.. screw that.Anyway, i wish next year Sarawak Tourism Board will invite the sarawak bloggers once more. We had a great time. and it is the great one. Thank You! Wish you all the best for #RWMF2013.
